I don’t know a single M.E. sufferer who is financially better off

Dr John H Greensmith
Founder, ME Free For All.org:

If any part of “somatoform” means continuing to hold on to an erroneous belief that one is ill, or is perhaps hypochondriacal, there ought to be evidence of such behaviour before a diagnosis with M.E. and/or that there are benefits of doing so which outweigh any disadvantages. Neither of these is usually true, when most people with M.E. had a good work or school attendance record and conducted the doctor only for perfectly reasonable concerns and, taking for granted no malingering, or faking, which seems unlikely, I don’t know a single M.E. sufferer who is financially better off, as well as being socially isolated and often with shattered relationships.

The other principal purpose of an accurately defined category is for recommending treatments for M.E. (and co-incidentally all other conditions trapped in this chronic fatigue bundle). I am only aware of two treatments, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Graded Exercise Therapy (GET), on offer from the orthodox medical establishment before the charlatans see their chance. Excellent letter, thank you Dr Speedy for the link. Dr Hooper suggested in comments we should put it online as a petition, and I agree but am too sick with ME to do it..Perhaps somebody reading this will do what is required. I would love to sign the petition online, far easier than trying to compose or send letters of protest.

Well my friend who has this 'ME' now has a free house and quit his job - from the tax payer. So that's a ridiculous comment. I'm not saying he might not suffer sometimes but he hell could do an honest day's work like the rest of us.

He's from a broken family of benefit cheats like I expect 'some' are.

Thats simply not true - Free house & quit his job my neighbour with this ME. Yet I've see him down the pub!! Ok for some...

Another Benefit cheat while the rest work to keep him!!! I'm not saying everybody with ME do cheat the system but people should be evaluated regularly and should be independent testing -not by same doctor to prevent cheaters.
