First pill for MS sufferers 'available in UK within months'

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER, on 21st January 2011:

Multiple sclerosis sufferers are set to get the first pill to treat the condition.

The drug, fingolimod, has been found to slow the progress of the disease and has been given preliminary approval by EU regulators.

The once-a-day pill should be available in Britain later this year, giving MS sufferers a simple alternative to self-injections at least once a week or hospital visits for infusions.

The MS Society welcomed the ‘great news’ and said it would campaign for patients to get the pill on the NHS. Read more>>
