CBT is like a rocking chair

CBT is like a rocking chair; it keeps you busy, but gets you nowhere.

I disagree. I have found CBT to be a great way to change my thought and behavior patterns and alleviate depression and anxiety, as well as helping insomnia. I think it is a useful coping tool for EVERYBODY to have in their "toolbox", and consider it a form of mindfulness. It can help one deal with any major chronic health problem (e.g. cancer, heart disease), and live better with them.

The only thing that is really bad about CBT is Simon W. pushing it as a "cure" for ME (along with graded exercise, which causes most PWME to crash terribly!). ME/CFIDS is NOT a psychological condition and cannot be cured by psychological techniques. But that is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater - CBT can be a useful tool in learning to cope and even thrive while living with chronic illness or disability.
